Melbourne, 15 November, 2007 - Vanguard Investments Australia (Vanguard) today announced a restructure and expansion of its senior management team as part of its plans to prepare for further growth in Australia and Asia-Pacific.
Jeremy Duffield will assume a wider role in Asia-Pacific as Vanguard Asia-Pacific Managing Director. He will spend a greater amount of time on regional management developing Vanguard's presence. He will maintain overall responsibilities for Vanguard's Australian and Asia-Pacific operations.
Ian Alcock, currently Head of Institutional Business, will take on the role of Head of Australia. Both Institutional and Retail segments will report to Ian. Robin Bowerman remains in his current role, spearheading Vanguard's fast-growing retail business.
Eric Smith, Chief Investment Officer, continues in his existing position but will spend more time across Asia-Pacific supporting the region.
Trevor Chudleigh, Head of International, maintains primary responsibility for the Japan and Singapore offices.
In addition, Vanguard has expanded its senior management team with the appointment of Chris Stevens as Head of IT. In this role he will drive technology delivery across Vanguard's Australia and Asia operations and assume responsibility for IT strategy, infrastructure and operations services as well as business relationship management. He will report to Ian Alcock.
This restructure follows substantial growth in Australia where Vanguard currently manages more than $75 billion in index funds for both institutional and retail investors. It is also in response to significant opportunities identified in the wider Asia-Pacific region where Vanguard's Japan and Singapore offices continue to experience strong momentum. Melbourne will continue as the regional Headquarters for Vanguard's Asia-Pacific operations.

Ian Alcock joined Vanguard Investments Australia in 2000 before moving to Brussels, Europe for three years where he was Managing Director Vanguard Europe. He returned to Melbourne, Australia in 2005 where he headed up Vanguard Investments Australia's Institutional Business Team.
Chris Stevens is an experienced IT professional with more than 26 years in senior executive, project management, sourcing and operational management roles. He has worked with Australia's leading financial services, telecommunications and media & advertising companies including the National Australia Bank (NAB), Telstra, Sensis, Westpac and ANZ.
