Melbourne, 2nd April, 2008 - Vanguard Investments Australia (Vanguard) has appointed Scott Lawrence to the position of Head of Investment Solutions, Asia Pacific. The placement of an investment professional within the Singapore office strengthens Vanguard's capability in the institutional market in Asia and is a further demonstration of the importance of this market to Vanguard's global strategy.

In his former Melbourne-based role as Head of Investment Solutions and Research, Scott Lawrence was responsible for developing innovative investment solutions for Australian institutional clients. In his new role Scott will utilise this investment experience to work with institutional clients in Asia to develop investment solutions designed to assist clients to achieve their investment objectives.

The appointment is in response to the significant opportunities Vanguard has identified throughout Asia-Pacific.

Vanguard Asia-Pacific's CIO, Eric Smith said, "Scott has played a pivotal role in developing innovative investment solutions such as Centralised Portfolio Management for Australian institutional clients. Scott Lawrence joined Vanguard in 2002 and has over 20 years' experience in the funds management industry. His previous roles at Vanguard included Senior Investment Specialist and Head of Institutional Sales and Client Relationship Management. Most recently, he managed Vanguard's rebalancing and asset allocation service and coordinated Vanguard's investment research activities.
