Hedging

Process of undertaking an investment activity to protect another investment from losses. For example, some investment fund managers use various methods to reduce the risks of loss for Australian investors that may arise with currency movements. Some share investors purchase “put options”, for example, to minimise sharemarket losses. (See Put option and Currency hedging)
