Investors choose active management because they want to achieve returns greater than the broader market. Vanguard believes the three critical factors required to achieve outperformance are: top talent, low cost and patience, which play a consistent role in all our active products.
Our active range includes factor funds and active ETFs, which use rules-based, systematic strategies to help clients achieve specific goals. We also offer fundamental active funds known as the Vanguard Manager Select Series, built to help clients achieve long-term outperformance.
Whichever active funds you recommend for your clients, with Vanguard they’ll have a head start. All our products are low cost, so your clients will keep more of their returns.
While we're best known for our index funds, we've been managing active strategies since our founding in 1975. In fact, Vanguard is one of the world's largest active managers, with approximately AUD $2 trillion of actively managed assets divided between internal and external management.

Manager Select — our fundamental active funds
Manager Select is Vanguard’s new series of fundamental active funds. This series offers a range of strategies from world-leading investment managers at a cost lower than you might expect. Manager Select may suit alpha-seeking clients who have a long-term investment timeframe.
Factors are the DNA of investments, they are the underlying attributes that influence how an investment behaves. By targeting these attributes, factor-based funds attempt to deliver an investment premium, such as higher returns from relatively inexpensive stocks (value strategies) or reduced volatility (minimum volatility strategies).
