Existing direct investors
To register for the new Vanguard Online experience you’ll need the unique registration code we sent to you in our correspondence by email or letter between 7 October 2020 and 19 October 2020.
To register, simply:
- Click here to re-register.
- Enter your unique registration code.
- Enter your Vanguard Investor Number and follow the instructions. This number can be found on your Investor Statement. Please save or print a statement to be able to reference your Investor Number at the time of registration.
For eligible accountholders, we will be sending the unique registration code between 7 October 2020 and 19 October 2020 via email or letter. If you are an eligible accountholder and haven't received your unique registration code, please call us after 19 October 2020 on 1300 655 101. We are available Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm AET.
Eligible accountholders are:

No. If you have more than one account with Vanguard, you will only need to register for the new Vanguard Online once. When the move of your account is complete and you have registered for the new Vanguard Online, simply select the ‘Missing an account?’ link on the dashboard and follow the process to link all your accounts under the one online login.
Yes. If you already have a Vanguard Personal Investor Account, you don’t have to register any other accounts. From 19 October 2020, simply log in to Vanguard Online, select the ‘Missing an account?’ link on the dashboard and follow the process to link all your accounts under the one online login.
Yes, we accept mobile numbers from a number of other countries in addition to Australian mobile phone numbers to register and access the new Vanguard Online. A list of the countries we can support can be viewed below.

The new Vanguard Online has added features and an enhanced experience, including the ability to:
- Buy additional investments in the funds you currently hold using BPAY® via your online banking.
- Sell your investments online when the signing authority for your account is ‘any-to-sign’ or where you have nominated an accountholder to act on your behalf. To change the signing authority on your account you can complete a change of account signing authority form.
- Contact us anytime via ’Message us’.
- Send us instructions quickly via ’Message us’.
- Access your investor statements online. We’ll send you an email when a new statement is available. If you’d prefer a paper statement you’ll need to complete a ‘Change of details ’ form and send it to us via secure message once you’ve registered for the new Vanguard Online.
No. We are in the process of moving your account over to the new Vanguard Online. We are expecting this transition to be completed on Monday 19 October 2020, and the current Vanguard Online will no longer be accessible.
The new Vanguard Online makes it easier for you to view and download your statements. Once you have registered for the new Vanguard Online, you’ll automatically receive all future statements online. We’ll send you an email letting you know when your statements are available.
If you prefer to receive statements by mail, you’ll need to complete the change of details form and send it to us via secure message from the ‘Message us’ section after you have registered for the new Vanguard Online. Statements will be sent to the account mailing address.
Vanguard Personal Investor is our new online platform.
Existing clients may chose to open a Vanguard Personal Investor Account to access the new offer, however for the time being they will not be able to transfer their existing holdings to their new Vanguard Personal Investor Account. We are currently working through this process and will be in touch when this transfer process becomes available next year for eligible account types.

From 1 October 2020, existing investors who invest directly in Vanguard Investor Funds (Retail Funds) and Vanguard Wholesale Funds can continue to make additional investments into funds they already hold.

To invest in managed funds that you don't currently hold, you can open a Vanguard Personal Investor Account – an Investor Directed Portfolio Service (IDPS). This new online account offers a wider range of investment products, allowing investors to build and diversify their portfolio with access to:
- Vanguard managed funds with wholesale management fees, with a minimum investment of $500.
- Vanguard Australian-listed exchange traded funds (ETFs), from $500, brokerage free.
- Top ASX shares (by market capitalisation), with brokerage of $19.95 or 0.15% (whichever is greater), GST inclusive.

Yes. Any existing distribution reinvestment nominations you have on Vanguard managed funds will be transferred over to the new Vanguard Online.

We’ll send a security verification code to your mobile phone number to verify your online activities for example, when you request to sell your investments. In addition, the new Vanguard Online will allow you to set up new login details (user name and password).
Yes. The new Vanguard Online enables you to download your transaction history and export it in CSV format.
At this stage, Power of Attorney or authorised representatives will not be able to access your new Vanguard Online login. However, they will be able to act on your behalf by sending us instructions by completing the required form and emailing it to the dedicated email address thirdpartycontact@vanguard.com.au.

The investment fees you pay for your existing Vanguard managed fund investments will not change if you transfer those investments to Vanguard Personal Investor.
Vanguard Personal Investor does not charge an Account Fee on Vanguard managed funds, Vanguard ETFs or cash held in a Vanguard Cash Account.
To be able to sell your investments online, the signing authority on your Vanguard account needs to be ‘any account holder to sign’ or where you have nominated an accountholder to act on your behalf.
For persons who are not eligible accountholders, such as those acting on Powers of Attorney or Authorised Representatives of an eligible accountholder, you can continue to provide us with instructions (such as investment and withdrawal) by using the Vanguard standard forms available on our website and sending them to us via post or to the dedicated email address thirdpartycontact@vanguard.com.au. Note: This email address will be available from the 19 October 2020.
If you want to change the signing authority on your account, you’ll need to complete the ‘Change of account signing authority’ form. Changing the authority to ‘any to sign’ means all listed account holders have the authority to act on the account if they have Vanguard Online access.
If you do not wish to change the signing authority on your account, to sell your investments you’ll need to complete the ‘Withdrawal' form and return it to us via:
- Secure message from the ‘Message us’ section within Vanguard Online; or
- Post.
To open a Vanguard Personal Investor Account, simply visit www.vanguard.com.au/personal/onboarding and follow the steps.
To be eligible to open an account, you must:
- Be 18 years or older.
- Be an Australian resident.
- Be an Australian tax resident
- Have an Australian residential address
- Have an Australian bank account.
- Have an Australian mobile number that will be used for ongoing security authentication.
If you have a Vanguard Personal Investor Account or are a direct managed funds investor, you can manage your investments via Vanguard Online. Vanguard Online allows you to:
- View your transactions
- Access your statements online
- Update your personal and account details

Vanguard Personal Investor is an online Investor Directed Portfolio Service, offering low-cost investment access to a range of Vanguard managed funds, Vanguard Australian-listed funds (ETFs), and ASX-listed shares.
It is currently available to individuals and self-managed superannuation funds account types, and enables investors to build a diversified portfolio, buy and sell holdings securely, receive distributions, and earn a competitive interest rate return via a linked Vanguard Cash Account. To better service and manage your investments with us, as part of the fund administrator change for our personal investors to FNZ Australia Pty Ltd on 16 October 2020, the following changes were made:
- Investor number: we've issued you with a new Investor number. This number can be found when you log in to Vanguard Online > Settings
- Account number: we've changed your previous Investor number to become your Account number without the capital 'V.' You can also view your Account number when you log in to Vanguard Online.
If you withdraw the full value of your holding in a fund, your account relating to that fund will be closed and you will not be able to reapply for new units in that same fund directly. Where available, you may access the fund indirectly by investing through Vanguard Personal Investor, a master trust, wrap platform or through a nominee or custody service.
