You may receive regular distribution payments from the managed funds or ETFs you hold based on the income earned by the fund or ETF.

When you join Vanguard Personal Investor, income distribution is paid differently depending on the type of investment. The default payment methods are:

Managed funds – reinvested as additional units of the same fund (if permitted by the fund and subject to you providing Vanguard with your TFN, ABN or tax exemption).
ETFs – paid as cash into your Vanguard Cash Account.
Shares – paid as cash into your Vanguard Cash Account.

You can change your income distribution preference depending on the type of investment:

Managed Funds:

Distributions can be paid into your Vanguard Cash Account or reinvested as additional units of the same fund (if permitted by the fund and subject to you providing Vanguard with your TFN, ABN or tax exemption).

To change your preference:

Log into Vanguard Online
Select ‘Portfolio’ from the left toolbar and in the ‘Income’ column select the icon to change your preference.

ETFs:

Distributions can be paid into your Vanguard Cash Account or reinvested as additional units of the same ETF.

To change your preference:

Select ‘Portfolio’ from the left toolbar and in the ‘Income’ column select the icon to change your preference.

Shares:

Dividends from shares can only be paid into your Vanguard Cash Account. You are unable to change this preference.
